Water Quality

Western Heights Water Company follows a strict collection and testing schedule. New pipelines are tested for bacteriological quality before they can be entered into our distribution system. Samples are collected weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly from 6 separate testing locations throughout our service area and are tested for contaminants. We work hard to ensure our water meets or exceeds all water quality standards set by the state and federal government so we can provide our customers with the safest, highest quality drinking water possible.

For more information about the quality of your drinking water please review our most recent Consumer Confidence Report (CCR).

Important Notice!

Western Heights Water Company (WHWC) has been notified by the State’s Division of Drinking Water of an exceedance, not a violation, meaning that we are still in compliance with State water quality standards. This is a result of the State lowering the chromium-6 maximum (CRIV) contaminant level. Water quality has not changed, and your water is safe. Exceedance was detected only in Well 9, which makes up approximately 7% of our total supply. Additional testing in the surrounding properties of that area showed the water being used in homes is not in violation of the regulatory limit for chromium-6.

A public notice was sent to all customers at the end of August 2025. A copy of the letter can be found here.

WHWC is working on a project to remove CRIV from Well 9 by the October 1, 2027 compliance date.
